Gouden Carolus Single Malt wins silver at International Whisky Competition
Our Belgian whisky Gouden Carolus Single Malt achieved second place at the renowned tasting competition 'International Whisky Competition' at world level.
The Olympics of whisky competitions
The 10th edition of the 'International Whisky Competition' took place in Las Vegas. Whiskies from all over the world were blind tasted by a completely independent jury of experts over three days. Each whisky was tasted on an individual basis for 8 minutes and was scored on a 100-point scale. Only 3 medals are awarded in each category: gold, silver and bronze, just like at the Olympic Games. This makes this tasting competition unique in the world of spirits. Although the organization has provided separate categories for the top whisky producing countries, the results can also be compared with each other thanks to the points system.
World-class Belgian whisky
Gouden Carolus Single Malt received a remarkably high score of 89.6 out of 100, finishing in second place in the 'Best World Whisky' category. That score is higher than the silver medal winners from Ireland and Canada, countries that received a separate category at the competition alongside Scotland, the United States and Japan. These 5 countries produce the most whisky worldwide. The categories for Scotland, the United States and Japan were even further subdivided by whisky type. Suppose that Gouden Carolus Single Malt could have competed in the 'Single Malt' sub-category of the United States, our Belgian whisky would still have achieved second place. Where the whisky is distilled does not necessarily say anything about the quality of the whisky. These results demonstrate once again the quality of our Belgian whisky.
Previously, Gouden Carolus Single Malt also won gold at the International Spirits Challenge, The World Whisky Masters and the World Whiskies Awards.
